NRNs to open five-star deluxe hotel

Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) are planning to establish a five-star deluxe hotel in association with an international chain in the country.
The newly elected president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association Shesh Ghale today announced in Kathmandu that the hotel will be established through a collective investment of the NRNs. He said that they would start looking for the location soon. Kathmandu, Lumbini and Pokhara are some of the locations for the proposed five-star hotel.
At a time, when the NRNs are blamed for their tall talks of investment but no action, Ghale said that they will carry out a feasibility study. "We will, then call for a collective investment from the NRNs," he said, adding that many of the international hotel chains have shown interest in establishing hotel in Nepal.
Ghale – who has also been constructing a five-start hotel in association with an international chain Sheraton in Kathmandu – also claimed that the international hotel chain will bring a slew of opportunities for Nepalis. "A hotel of 200 beds can provide employment to over 400 Nepalis, apart from getting an opportunity to get global exposure," he added.
The NRNs have been trying to set up a collective investment fund to help not only creat employment in the country but also develop infrastructure. "NRNs are also planning to promote entrepreneurship," he added.
The collective investment in hydropower through NRN Investment Ltd will continue, he informed. "We are also mulling over the investment in commercial agriculture and infrastructure."
The meeting of the NRNA International Coordination Committee on Friday also decided to establish a relief fund to help Nepali migrant workers.
The NRNs will also continue to lobby in bringing foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country, Ghale added.
With the legal recognition of NRNA for the first time in last one decade, the Nepali diaspora has also planned to construct their own office building soon. The NRNA was registered at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last week on October 20.
The newly elected committee earlier in the afternoon has also held discussion with the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry executive members at the FNCCI headquarters..
