Minister Bhatta calls for duty-free market access


Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Lekh Raj Bhatta called for a fundamental reform in a global economic and trading systems catering to the special developments needs and challenges faced by the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) on Monday.
Addressing the thirteenth United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD XIII) today in Doha, Bhatta underscored the need to eradicate hunger and poverty crippling the least developed countries to ensure global peace, security, stability and prosperity in a sustainable manner.
Expressing concern over the low level of LDCs' share in global trade, Minister Bhatta also called on the trade and development partners to provide 100 per cent duty-free-quote-free market access for all products from LDCs.
The Conference started on April 19 and will end on April 26.
